A review about Gypsy Vanner Horses and their Breyer Models

Flowing manes and tails, beautiful colors and incredible feathered legs are just a few of the things you will notice first about the Gypsy Vanner breed. Originating in the United Kingdom, they were created by the Gypsies as a mode of transportation. Bred to be strong enough to pull caravans and gentle enough to be trusted with the family children, these magnificent horses with their majestic looks, graceful moves and gentle dispositions stole the heart of the United States in 1996.

Breyer first created a Gypsy Vanner mold in 2012, when it introduced Kathleen Moody’s model for the Premier Club, Brishen. Kathleen’s sculpture was unique and it captured the motion, grace and feathering of this breed. To this day, it is a very popular Breyer model.

Kuchi, a piebald (black and white) mare, owned by
Bill and Wendy Ricci, occupies a special place in history as the first Gypsy Vanner born in America. Foaled On March 18, 1999, she is the only offspring of the famous mare Bat. Kuchi’s sire, The Gypsy King (the second stallion ever imported to America), was also immortalized as a Breyer model.

Taskin is a one of a kind unique stallion in the Gypsy Vanner breed. He is a rare buttermilk buckskin color.
